Bramhtal lake, in Uttarakhand, is said to be a sacred place where Lord Brahma once mediitated millions of years ago. This lake becomes spectacular in the time of winter when it reflects the himalayan ranges on its frozen cover of ice. With the fresh soft snow strewn all over and paths lined with Rhododendren, it makes your winter trek more beautiful and fun. The track to Bramhtal is very rocky and becomes difficult to climb when the snow starts to melt during the summers. Hence, this becomes one of the easiest treks you can do during the winter! As you reach top you will have more and more experiences that leave you mesmerized; the far way Himalayan ranges where you catch the glimpse of three pointed peak of Mt Trishul and Jatripani peak as the mist and clouds move along. Trek up and camp out in the pure white snow!

Day 01 :
Kathgodam to Lohajung Distance: 215 kms The base camp for this beautiful trek is Lohajung. Kathgodam, the nearest railway station connects it to India’s wide rail network. The station is just 25kms away from Nainital. Another popular city, Haldwani is 9 kms away from Kathgodam.Once you’re at kathgodam, it will take around 8-10 hours to reach Lohajung. So, we suggest you reach Kathgodam by 7am so that the drive to Kathgodam is hassle free. We will pick you up from Kathgodam after you have had your breakfast. The journey from Kathgodam to Lohajung takes you through some of the beautiful locations like Bhimtal which is popular for its serene lake. You will also pass by some famous regions of Uttarakhand including Almora, Kausani and Baijnath. You may wish to take a break at Kausani to soak in the beauty of the Himalayan ranges. Shutterbugs, keep your cameras ready! The peaks you can spot from Kausani start with Kamet with Ghori Parvat (hills), Hathi Parvat, Nandaghunti, Trishul, Mrigthuni, Maiktoli, Nanda Devi, NandaKhat till Panchachuli group.Delving deeper in the mythology, Lohajung is the place where goddess Parvati had a jung (fight) with the demon Lohasur. Lohajung means ‘fight with Lohasur’. We reach Lohajung and camp out in tents at a scenic locations. Have dinner and rest.
Day 02 :
Lohajung to Bekaltal to Khabekhal, Altitude: 2,320 m to 3,273 m (8.5kms), Time:7-8 hours, Wake up early morning, freshen up and post breakfast, we move on to the upper region of Lohajung, through the beautiful trail of forests lined by a few typical looking homes. Mandoli Village, will reveal itself after a short trek. While you’ll spot the Kail valley as you climb higher. Kail valley is marked by the union of Kail and Pindari rivers. Next comes Budla, a cluster of a few homes, which are usually lined with Rhododendron trees. If you choose to trek in Feb or March, you’ll spot these trees in full bloom. It’s best to take a breather at Begum, a beautiful location that offers splendid views of Navali Bugyal. The views will definitely relieve you off the tiredness. Once you leave Begum, it should take you just 10-15 minutes before you reach another stream and another hours walk will bring you to Gujrani stream. You can have your packed lunch here. Just walk for 70 minutes more and you’ll reach Bekaltal. The beauty of this trek can’t be described in words. Amidst thick oak forests, the lake gleams in the summer, while in winter, it is frozen. Further, we trek to till the serence Brahmtal lake or camp at Khabekhal based on convineince. In case of snow showers, you might take 3-4 hours to reach Khabekhal. So most of the camping decisions will be left to our weather gods! We camp, have hot dinner and rest for the night!
Day 03 :
Khabekhal to Daldum via Brahmatal Peak (3,846 m) to Lohajung Altitude: 3,270 to 2,850 m ,Time: 7-9 hours, 9 km Wake up in the morning, have breakfast and start climbing for Bramhatal peak. You may choose to carry your daypack or your back pack and return to the campsite at Daldum. A trek of almost an hour will take you to Chota Jhandidar. Pass through Choda and Bada Jhandidar to reach Brahmtal. En route, you will sight splendor of the mighty Himalayas, esp. Mt. Trishul and Nandaghunti. Clear skies will let you indulge in a fascinating view of the Himalayas. Daldum, the campsite for the day is just 3 hours away from the peak, with a trail passing through forests. Lohajung is just 3.7kms and approx 2.5hours away. You’ll reach Malling in half an hour after you exit the forests. You’ll spot a few houses of the villages on the slopes. Just by following the stone trail made by the frequent visits of villagers and you’ll reach Lohajung. You can have lunch somewhere on the way where there is a beautiful stream flowing by which is a common sighting in these areas. Set up our tents for the night and rest. You can have dinner later on or have a fun bon fire night to celebrate togetherness.
Day 04 :
Lohajung to Kathgodam/Haldwani After breakfast, we depart from Lohajung to Kathgodam/Haldwani. This takes 8 - 10 hours from Lohajung. You will reach Kathgodam ?haldwani before the evening sets in. Most trains/buses traversing to Nainital will be available here to your respective destinations!

Chopta is a beauty at the foothills of the Himalayas. Famously called as the ' Switzerland', it still remains untamed and unspoiled with few wanderers exploring. This trek is for beginners who want to see the beautiful side of both green pastures and pure white snow! Fall in love nature at its best!

Best Time to visit
This trek can be done all through year. Although winters can get very cold, but with ample amount of warm clothes, it is do-able.
Day 01 :
Dehradun to Deoriatal Arrive at Dehradun from Delhi in the morning. You can either arrive by Volvo buses that traverse from Delhi or fly into the Dehradun airpoort before a day of the trek. We start early from Dehradun and reach Deoriataal by evening. Lunch will be self-sponsored on the way at a nice road side Dhaba. Deoria Tal is a small lake with two tea shops around it. The views of the mountain ranges from here are fabulous. The beauty of the view generally intensifies in the morning, when the clouds have cleared to offer unreal views of the hills. Reach the base camp, have hot dinner made by our cooks (Veg - Roti (Indian bread) Sabzi(Veg curry) , Dal Chawal (Lentile soup and Rice)) and retreat into the tents for a good nights sleep.
Day 02 :
Deoriatalto Chopta Distance: 12Kms Altitude: 2900mts Time 4-5 hours Wake up early and have a good filling breakfast. Get your backpacks ready and pack your lunch. Post breakfast we start trekking to Chopta. This day is a level walk through some beautiful forests and meadows. By afternoon, we can stop by to have your lunch. If you are trekking in the winter months, expect some snow in the shadow areas. There are two camping options, either camp short of Chopta near a stream, or at the meadows below the shops at Chopta.. Pitch in your tents, have some good dinner and retreat for the night!
Day 03 :
Chopta to Tunghnath Temple to Chandrashila and return to Chopta Distance: 15Kms Altitude: 3400 mts to 3925 mts Time 8-9 hours Wake up to a fresh morning and chirrups of birds in the meadows. Get fresh and have your breakfast, pack your lunch and start trekking by 7: 30 am. It is always a good idea to start early. The height gain on this day will be approximately 1 km. The trek is through steep a ridge below Khanpari Tibba (4000m). From this point, one can have a magnificent glimpse of Manali, situated on the left bank of River Beas and the whole upper Kullu valley, which appears swathed in the different colors depending on the season. The lake at Rani Sui is a small mountain tarn with 360 degree views of the majestic PirPanjal and Dhauladhar ranges. It’s a steady trek after that, through high altitude meadows and pine, maple, horse chestnut, walnut forests to Duddu Thatch. Reach the second base camp and pitch up your tents here. Have dinner around a bon fire, share a few laughs and bond! You can retreat for the night.
Day 04 :
Chopta to Dehradun Distance: 3Kms After breakfast, you can spend some tiem lazing around the meadows. After this, you will be driven back to Dehradun by lunch time. This is where our trek ends and you can head back to your destinations or hang around in Dehradun for a day or two and indulge in a lovely hill life!
