After packing up on our last minute supplies and goodies we make our way towards Kareri Village via a bridge crossing over Bhote Khosi. The route takes us upwards, straight along the Kareri stream. Trekking along the pristine white river is a delight in itself. After a while in the forest, the trail leads us to a small Government School which is in Sari Village. The trek from Dharamsala to Kareri goes through pine forests and crosses several tribal villages on the way - Sari and Kareri Village being the two Gaddi Tribal Villages. You can interact with happy to go lucky kids who out of the world cute! Nice village people beckon you to spend time with them, tell you stories and help you with refilling your supplies etc. The trek from here is another 2 kms long ascent to Kareri Village. There are lots of small streams where you can refill your bottles. The water here has a refreshing taste of the mountain springs. The trail soon goes through a dense forest known as the Rhododendron forest. Making trekking sticks out of dry twigs and branches is highly recommended or you can bring your own trekking stick if you own one. The forest trail soon opens out onto a wooden bridge over the Kareri River. Kareri Village is about 30 mins from here. On reaching the village we settle down, relax and take in the rustic yet beautiful and peaceful village scene. Our guide and porters will start preparing lunch for us. After a hot well deserved meal by the river side, we explore a little more of the area around and connect with the more villagers.Kareri village at 6000 ft is a charming little village straddled on a sloping ridge and adorned with terrace fields at the outer fringes.
