Renowned for its amazing biodiversity, it's home to hundreds of species of birds, along with fauna like jaguars, caimans and capybaras. Summer rains flood the region, while the winter dry season creates plentiful lagoons. For several years now South America’s Amazon rainforest gets all the attention however when it comes to wildlife viewing in its natural environment, Pantanal easily tops the list amongst worlds top 5 destinations. Pantanal is one of the most immense, pristine and biologically rich environments on the planet. Often referred to as the world’s largest wetland system, it extends through millions of hectares of central-western Brazil, eastern Bolivia and eastern Paraguay. Buses ply, villagers use other modes of transport to go to their places, but they peacefully co-exist with the wildlife. The forests are on both the sides of this road. After the big herds of the wildebeests and the ungulates cross over to Tanzania from Mara, the dotted plains of Mara are left with a few of them and the antelopes. This makes things difficult for the cats, and they have to venture out of their territory to hunt. This is the season to get the best of the big cats in acton. The grass is short and green which makes sighting a treat to ones’ eyes. At the conservancy, the resident herbivores enjoy this fresh grass and are found in plenty. The resident cats as well as the ones in the National park move into the conservancy for food. This makes the conservancies the best place to sight and photograph the animals. Being a private reserve, one is allowed to do off roading to get a very close look of the animals. The night drives are very exciting and one experiences the night life of Masai Mara.
